Plastic guide for discolf discs
Below are descriptions from the manufacturers themselves of their different types of plastic. Most manufacturers have different plastics to give you different grip, quality, durability and flight characteristics.
The DX line offers the widest selection of models and weights. These discs are affordably priced and provide an excellent grip in a variety of weather situations. DX discs wear in with usage and over time will eventually take on new and varied flight characteristics. Many top pros carry several DX discs of their favorite models to provide different flight patterns for different situations. Some DX discs are available in glow-in-the-dark.
The Champion line is produced with a hi-tech plastic that provides outstanding performance and durability. Champion discs are distinguished by a beautiful clear appearance. Designed for professional players, Champion line discs are usually a little firmer and more stable than the same model in other plastics. Whether used in heavily wooded situations, or on extremely rugged courses, our Champion line plastic will continue to perform predictably and avoid damage better than any other plastic.
The Blizzard technology incorporates thousands of microbubbles into our durable Champion plastic. This results in high speed, premium plastic drivers in weights all the way down to 130 grams! Blizzard discs discs fly with almost the same stability as the equivalent model 20 grams heavier. Most models lighter than 135 grams float in water.
The Star line is created with a special blend of grippy, resilient polymers. Star plastic offers the same outstanding durability of our regular Champion plastic, plus improved grip like our Pro plastic. Star discs have the same flight characteristics as Champion discs, but are slightly less firm. High performance, longevity, and superior grip make Innova Star line discs a great choice for your game.
XT is a tough plastic blend that was originally developed for the Nova and Atlas. It worked so well, it spread to other models. Grip is off the charts and durability is almost as good as our premium plastics. XT is firmer than R-Pro, and less firm than KC Pro with a unique grip that feels great in the hand, and inspires confidence when throwing.

Lots of grip even in wet conditions. The most affordable plastic in our line. Soft but firm feel - ideal for putters. Fine-tuneable flight characteristics thanks to gradual wear.
Great feel and added glide. Easily one of the grippiest plastic types out there. Reveals new features in your disc when worn down. Typically a bit more unstable plastic type comparing to S- and C-line. Please note: P-line putters ( P1 & P2 ) have their own blend of P-line plastic. The P-line P1 is features a soft & grippy blend of plastic, while the P-line P2 comes with a very firm plastic blend that many Pro players prefer for their putters.
Discmania's most durable plastic – these discs wear down very slowly. C-Line discs retain original flight characteristics for an extended period of time. Whether used in heavily wooded situations, or on extremely rugged courses, the C-Line plastic will continue to perform predictably and avoid damage better than any other plastic. Good grip and showstopper see-through look. Typically the most stable blend of plastic in our line.
Excellent grip in all weather conditions with great durability. This plastic ages well, which means that your disc doesn't change drastically in its flight behavior after a couple of collisions with trees. Recommended plastic for drivers.
K1 Line is Kastaplast's super durable material with a nice combination of firmness and gumminess. Discs in K1 Line will appear in both solid and translucent colors.
K1 Glow line
K1 Glow Line is the same super durable plastic as K1, but powered with glow!
Our new plastic K2 is similar to K1, but more flexible and grippy. Just as with K1, our new plastic will come in both translucent and solid colors.
K3 is our base line plastic – grippy in all conditions. With this plastic you will get that nice worked in feel pretty quickly. Compared to other base plastics, K3 is medium soft.
Zero Line is the grippy putter plastic used in our putters and approach discs. The plastic is chosen because of the good grip and feel. The feel you need in your short game. The Hard version is for players that might want to drive with Zero Line discs, but some players also prefer to just putt with them.
Right in the middle of Zero Soft and Zero Hard you find this plastic. Zero Medium is the perfect compromise and can be used both for driving and putting. Grip is very good and still it sits comfortably in your hand even in colder weather.
The Zero Soft is intended for optimal short game. Period. When you step up on the green and want to give your disc the best chance to stick to the chains and safely sink into the basket you should go for the Zero Soft. For wet and really cold weather it can also serve as a comfortable choice of putter plastic.
And when Zero Soft is not enough, the Zero Megasoft is the answer. These discs are made for the best grip and optimal conditions to stick in the chains. When Zero Megasoft hits the ground it stops with minimal skip.
Retro Line is our most affordable plastic. It is also about nostalgia. The mid 80s was a great time. Disc Golf had just come all the way up to Latitude 64° and we played all through the night in the midnight sun. Translucent discs were far from being invented and all discs were unstable by current standards. We remember those days with nostalgic feelings and wanted a plastic that would remind us of how it used to be. For a long time we have had requests that we should make discs that could be broken more easily. Test after test led us to this plastic blend that we have named Retro.
Opto Line is made out of some of the world's most durable plastics. It comes in a variety of beautiful translucent colors. The Opto Line plastic has been developed to withstand severe punishment and extreme conditions better than other plastics.
Gold Line is our premium blend plastic. The start of the mix has been the same brand plastics used in Opto Line but we added a different polymer to give it better grip without losing the excellent durability of Opto Line.
2K line Opto-G
The first 2K Line discs are made with an Opto Line plate and a Gold Line rim. A combination called 2K Line Opto-G.
This is where it all started. The plastic feel that has been around since the beginning of disc golf. Firm discs with exceptional grip in wet or dry conditions. Easy to throw with a very true flight. There is a reason this blend has had such great staying power, it is great.
Prime has an incredible feel and excellent grip even when the weather compromises your hold on your favorite disc. These are all secondary benefits to this incredible line of discs. Our guiding intention was to bring a product to market that was affordable for beginners looking to test the waters. We truly endeavor to grow the sport. Putting Prime discs in beginners' hands will be a great way to do that.
The perfect combination of polymers produces some of the most beautiful and durable plastic in disc golf. This translucent blend can take a beating and maintain the original flight characteristics of the disc for many rounds of disc golf.
Lucid Air uses the same material as our durable Lucid plastic. It has solid plastic at the top and bottom of the rim to protect the microbubbles in the plastic on impact. These microbubbles actually make the disc lighter. They are spread out through the top of the disc and middle of the rim to keep the weight distribution nearly identical to Lucid and Fuzion discs.
Fuzion combines the durability of Lucid with an advanced polymer to form a non-transparent blend of plastic. This plastic also provides players with additional grip.
BioFuzion plastic is the by-product from a mixture of Lucid and Fuzion plastics that had blemishes or cosmetic flaws. Some of these discs may have specks of plastic, flakes, or other minor cosmetic flaws that will not affect the flight, performance, or durability of the disc.
200 Plastic is extremely versatile. It's great for entry level players looking to get into the game, as well as advanced & professional players who love to fine tune their discs by working them in just the way they like. The feel of this plastic brings a new dimension to our line-up. Similar to our 300 Plastic, but with less grip - the 200 Plastic stands on its own.
300 Plastic is a special blend of materials that is durable enough to take solid impact but has the ability to be broken in over time. Our 300 Plastic has been developed for optimal feel and grip for Putters and Midrange discs.
300 Soft Plastic
Based on popular feedback for a soft, flexible, and grippy plastic, we have developed our 300 Soft Plastic blend. It is a less firm version of our popular 300 Plastic, and maintains the same great qualities, such as being durable enough to withstand solid impact while also being able to break in over time. It is a great option for players who like a flexible feel to go with a grippy base plastic.
350 Plastic is a unique blend of plastics designed to be used in several different models. The high quality discs produced in this plastic have amazing glide and each model has its own unique flight characteristics. 350 Plastic is a soft, grippy plastic that you will be able to break in over time. At a lower price point, this exceptional plastic feels and flies great. The 350 Plastic retains grip even in wet conditions.
350G Plastic is a firmer blend of the 350 Plastic for those who like the grippy properties but in a stiffer plastic. The 350G Plastic is the product of 16 months of research and development. Its unique tacky feel and increased stiffness puts it ahead of all base-line resin available on the market today. It was developed in a collaborative effort by World Champions, Major Champions and National Tour Champions looking for discs that will break in perfectly over time. The 350G Plastic retains grip even in wet conditions.
400 Plastic is a premium blend of material that is extremely durable. The unique blend of plastics feels as good as it looks and will be able to be broken in over time. This tour quality plastic gives the thrower impeccable grip, even when it is wet.
400G Plastic is the regular 400 Plastic with a shot of adrenaline. It is the base 400 plastic mixed with another resin that gives the plastic a slightly different feel than the base 400 Plastic. The additive also makes the disc more durable and requires more time to break it in.
500 Plastic has been in development for quite some time, formulated and based on carefully considered player feedback. It has a stiffer, less gummy feel than 400 Plastic. This provides an extremely confident grip on the flight plate, balancing just the right amount of flex and firmness, with a very solid feeling rim that we believe disc golfers are going to love. 500 Plastic has a uniquely pearlescent finish, unlike anything else in the Prodigy Disc plastic line.
750 Plastic is similar in grip and texture to our 400 series but with a firmer feel. This high-tech blend of premium resins will provide outstanding performance and predictability. This plastic is extremely durable.
750G Plastic is our most advanced and premium plastic yet. This high-tech blend of premium resins will deliver unparalleled performance and predictability. 750G Plastic takes the incredible durability & firmness of 750 Plastic and steps it up a notch. For fans of our 400G Plastic, this plastic feels similar but has increased firmness and will require even more time to break in. Feel the difference.
